What people ask first.

Health sharing is different from traditional insurance. Here are the questions that come up most often.

No. Health sharing is not insurance and is not regulated as insurance. Members voluntarily share each other's eligible medical costs — it is a cooperative agreement, not a guarantee of payment. Many people find it provides comparable or better access to care at significantly lower cost, but understanding the distinction before enrolling matters.
A member responsibility amount is similar to a deductible — the portion you're responsible for when large, unexpected medical events occur before the community begins sharing your eligible medical costs.
In most cases, yes. Health sharing is not tied to a specific provider network the way traditional insurance is. You can typically see any licensed provider. The HSA and Copay plan provide a robust PPO national network for preventive care.
Health sharing programs typically do not cover pre-existing conditions during an initial waiting period, elective procedures, cosmetic treatments, or experimental therapies. Review the member guidelines before enrollment.
